University College Dublin is an established centre of excellence in bioinformatics.

There are dedicated bioinformatics facilities at the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research.

A PhD programme in "Bioinformatics and Computational Biomedicine" commenced in October 2007 at UCD.
